When you’ve been in the property industry for years, it’s easy to forget that abbreviations such as “STCA” and “BIR” are not commonly recognized by the general public. Prospective buyers want listings that are clear and agents who value their time, so avoid using abbreviations as much as possible. This includes SLUG (single lockup garage), OSP (off-street parking), UCP (undercover parking), SE (semi ensuite), EOI (expressions of interest) and SP (sold prior) and OFI (open for inspection).

Using exaggerated or industry-specific language in your property listings may seem like a harmless practice, but in reality, this is a quick-fire way to turn buyers off your agency. In today’s saturated market and time-poor society, prospective clients appreciate researched, honest listings that spare the unnecessary embellishment of a property’s features.
